MAKIN’ SHIT KLASSY

Lately I’ve been unmotivated when it comes to drawing floating pieces with bottoms. Maybe I’m just sick of painting those kind of walls? When drawing letters, my interest has been all on panel style with no bottoms, and when drawing otherwise it seems like a chore.

In the sketches below I drew a panel style sitting on a line, then went back and added in the bottoms. To me this is really exciting because I am able to quickly lay out the whole structure then go back to tie it all in.

To many this may not seem like too big of a deal, but to me this switch in process keeps me interested in farting out the same name over and over again. Graffiti nerds know what I’m talking about.

The painted version stared in the same way, sitting on a line then built.

SCRAP SKETCHING

As an adult I’ve lost to motivation to keep a proper sketch book. The kind of book that you carefully maintain and preserve as a sort of creative journal. It feels too formal for me. If I ever do sketch I like to do it on random sheets of paper, newspapers, or cheap books. It is very comforting and free not worrying about fucking things up. I like the used and abused look. The I’m having fun and don’t give a fuck attitude on paper…
